Hi geniuses of whom I am in awe..

On behalf of my son's friend (who does not have an e bay account) I am selling his x box 360 with RRoD (as faulty as I have an excellent e bay reputation to protect)

A potential buyer has asked me to run through a switch on process and find a code by counting the lights...

Why does the buyer want to know this?

So that he can find out what error it has so find out if the warranty will cover it or not, or if it can be repaired...

    Many thanks!

how would I find out if the code is/isn't one that tells me whether the x box can be repaired then?
(Just so I know what I am telling this potential buyer, bearing in mind that this is not my item that I am selling...)

Get him to open one. Selling things for other people so many times ends with problems. As you dont know the item. Your sons friend should be describing it

having seen some of the 'adult listings' (due to reading about them elsewhere in this forum) there is NO WAY I would allow my own son to have an e bay account. So I am not going to encourage his friend to either. Oh and apparently you need to be on t'internet to use e bay so he's scuppered there, too.
His mum's involved too - it was her who asked me if I'd be so kind...

  • I presume they do know that if the Xbox is less than 3 years old, Microsoft will repair (or replace) it for free?

As long as it's these 3 lights, MS will repair it.
