tv problem with tech guys

Options
About 2 months ago I bought a tv from currys as a display model it was a 37" for about 200 pound as it didnt have a remote or a stand but i was happy with that. When i got it home and up on the wall it had a fault with black lines across the screen. They sent a repair man out who told me it was a certain fault but he didnt have the correct tools and somebody else would need to come out. 3 days later they came out and said it was a different fault but he still didnt have the correct part. 5 days after the next guy came out and said he had the wrong part again and they would contact me in a few days when they get the part in. A week later i still hadn't been contacted so i rang them up and they said they didn't have the part, it was another 2 weeks after that when i was contacted to say they had it. Finally someone came out but he still didn't have the right part so 4 days later another guy had to come out and he said the repair could only be done in a workshop. So another 2 days after i was told they would be there between 10 and 2 to pick it up, they finally turned up at 5:15. Now they are saying they still havnt recieved it at the workshop 3 days later and if they can't fix it i will just get the 200 pound i paid for it back and i wont be able to get a tv that size for that much wich isn't vary good since i have the wall bracket up on my wall and a built in cupboard around the telly. When i ring up to complain they say they can't do anything untill they recieve the TV and tehy are sorry for any inconvinience. I am wondering what i can do as i have had to take a day off work every time they come out and i could pretty much buy a new tv for the amount I have missed out on from days off work. Thanks for any help

  • That's possibly the most inefficiency I have ever heard of in one company!

Unfortunately I would say that if they have offered you a refund, that is your only option. They are obviously having trouble isolating what the problem is with the TV, hence all the different 'parts'. It's a bummer that you won't be able to find another TV as big as you want for the money - but that's not down to them.

Their responsibility is to put you in the same position as you were before you bought the TV (ie a refund). As for taking the time off work etc - that is your responsibility and unfortunately this is the risk that you take when you buy ex-display products!
