Looking For A Suitable Free Web Host

I am looking into the possibility of setting up my own forum for something, but I am really confused with the myriad of offers that are about and have no idea where to start.
I am looking for free webspace that offers a minimum of 100Meg webspace and allows me to use my own domain name, I may eventually move from a free webspace provider if I can generate enough revenue to cover costs either through advertising or members donations, Realistically I expect around 100 people to be using the forum at peak so I need an idea of what bandwidth I should be lookng for, It also has to support php and allow uploading via ftp.
I would also like to know what sort of prices are reasonable to pay for extra bandwidth if I should go over my limit.
I know it is asking a lot, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to do a forum using PHP then you probably also need MySQL. In which case you are unlikely to find a free hosting company.
Assuming your are thinking of using something like PHPBB for your forum then there are quite a few resources to investigate off their webpage https://www.phpbb.com One such link is this which compares a number of US based hosting companies - https://www.webhostingunleashed.com Use the search feature at the bottom of the page to find companies that meet your criteria.

There are a lot of free hosts that will suit your needs but it depends on how reliable you need your site to be as most free hosts have lengthy downtimes.0

Another vote for jamroll. To be honest they sound ideal for your needs, the ONLY thing you need is your own domain name (£5 for 2 years). They put a tiny line of ads right at the bottom of the page. I use them as a bit of a sandpit (IE an area to try things out which doesn't really cost me much but is actually usable). I signed up to set up an online gallery, but have also used content management PHP scripts and an online survey script.
Good support, PHP'd up to the eyeballs, & fantastico takes the hard work of installing stuff. I've been using them for 3 months and find it brill.
