Monitor Sound

We've had some PC problems lately, but all fixed now. Just trying to get the monitor sound back on.

All the icons look ok, I've plugged in the green ended wire into the monitor and the base unit. But I've just found another wire at the back which is blue one end and green at the other.

Sound still not working, any ideas?

I guess the other wire is for a built in microphone. So you have plugged a 3.5mm jack in to your monitor (green socket), and the other end in to the green socket on the motherboard? Does your case have a green socket on the front of the case, and the rear? If so, plug it in to the rear of the case for the time being.

Otherwise it could be a sound setting within windows.
If it is Vista, right click on the speaker icon, and click 'Playback Devices'.

You should see something like
Speakers
headphones
SPDIF
HDMI

depending on what soundcard and speaker setup you have.
Click on 'Speakers' and make sure 'Set Default' is ticked. You can test under the 'configure' tab.
