Is it possible to have a nice lawn AND a dog?

  • My dogs don't seem to spoil the grass with their wee and I've managed to get them to poo in one place so it's not that, they just keep digging and making running tracks with their chasing games. I've given up. We had a veg garden and they ate all the tomatoes and runner beans before I'd managed to pick them. I finally realised it was going to be 'fruitless' (ha ha!) when I saw one of them eating a raw cabbage in the middle of the lawn one morning.

I think if you have a section fenced off just for them you might be able to keep the garden nice but otherwise, I don't know what you'd do. My mum has a spaniel and she has a beautiful lawn but I think that's because he mostly stays on the patio which is half of the garden.

i had my dog trained to go on a 4msq patch of pea(excuse the pun) shingle. this also made it very easy to remove any poo.
