a slug in my lounge

I'm being greeted every morning by a silvery snail trail on my lovely carpet in my lounge. :eek: Short of sitting up with a shotgun all night, does anyone have any suggestions for getting rid of said slug? Humane or clean if possible - I don't want to also be scraping up gunk. :huh:
Thanks in advance, and please feel free to merge if I've lazily ignored an earlier one.

I would be trying to find out how its getting in.
Have a look for a gap somewhere.0 -
We've got one visiting our bathroom...no idea where it goes in the day (it must be able to get in and out somehow)...it only appears in the evening/night and crawls along the grouting of the tiles cleaning up anything it can find. Amazing (and actually small and very pretty)...0

Beer in a tuna tin? Sugar attracts it but it drowns in the tin.
Chances are that it's a few slugs as opose to one though. Gross I know!If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0 -
clean the carpet with a carpet cleaner like the one you can rent from hombase
this will get rid of the slug trail - like ants they tend to follow the same trails they have set before .

We get them squeezing in through the patio doors to get to the cat's food.
We put a trail of salt down, which stop them for a while.0 -

they get in through the doors and skirtings, etc, as it's a stone house at floor level. Soon as I noticed the first one, I put salt around the extremes. That keeps most of them away. But I think one may have come in clinging to one of the cats' fur.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0 -

I thought about beer but wasn't sure if it drowned them or just made them drunk. :rotfl: I can put some down in a shallow bowl, or one of the cats' bowls. Will cider do, do you think? Mind you, I may have an unwanted can of Stones ...spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0 -
I have a slug in the house somewhere. Every morning there is the trail over the carpet or a pair of my shoes or bag. I can't find the thing anywhere and it refuses to die or be caught.
Fat lot of good my 3 dogs and 2 cats are proving to be with the situation so I am thinking it is them letting it in just to watch me tear the house apart each morning,they all sit there watching me like it has become some sort of sport.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.
