I don't sell on Ebay much at all and recently sold an item and sent it 1st class recorded delivery only for the buyer to email me saying it hasn't arrived. Obviously I tracked it and the Royal Mail website simply says it was received at the Post Office I originally sent it from.
In hindsight iI should have used Special Delivery as it is worth more than the £30 compensation RM may eventually give me.
Do Ebay rules and regulations state I must give a full refund to the buyer?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Has the buyer checked with their local office to see if the item is there? Recorded only tracks when you leave it at the post office and then the next tracking is once it has been signed for, the postie may have tried to deliver and not left a card. Its worth checking.
Paypal requires proof of delivery, so if the tracking details do not show it as delivered they will refund the buyer.0 -
How long has it been? Phone your local sorting office to see if its there. But if you are unable to trace it or show a signature oas proof of delivery you have to refund. RM do not consider anything lost for 15 days0

4 days isnt long also there have been random strikes over the country over the past week so it could be caught in a backlog. Just reassure your buyer and ask them to wait a little longer.0
