Bank charges reclaiming change

Hi all,
Finally started the process of claiming ban charges back, so called up the Halifax to find out how many charges I've paid over the years.
The operator told me that she cannot just send my charge details out to me, rather I'd have to go through the process of sending a cheque for £10 (as explained in the Reclaim article). I then asked if that was for each account, or for all accounts.
She went away, came back and said that they don't do that process anymore - that I can register my complaint over the phone and don't need to pay £10!!!
Sorry if this is common knowledge to you all, I couldnt see it in the article and thought it would be of interest for those just making claims!
:-)

you need to do a SAR and get a copy of the statements from the bank, without this information any claim you make for bank charges will be deemed invalid as they have no "proof" of how you have come to that figure.
Disregard what they have said and send the £10 to the DPO for your bank asking for ALL information held on you since the account was first opended.use the template on here.Abbey Claim 1 - WON £2300 Inc Interest :rotfl:
Abbey Claim 2 - Won £990 :rotfl:
Abbey Claim 3- £1157.80 + Interest @0.25 per day (LBA)

Thanks - I did have a feeling it wasnt going to be that easy!!
Would you recommend sending £10 per account, or just £10 in total for both accounts?
I tried asking this on the phone, and thats when I was told I wouldn't need to bother!
Thanks again for your response - much appreciated!
PS - Whats a SAR? I did a quick google, and don't think you are referring to the Sons of the American Revolution!!0 -

Yes, send just one £10 per company ie if you have three accounts with Abbey you only need to send the £10 once, you need to ask for all of the information and not limited to Bank Charges and fees that they hold on you for any account with them, put the account numbers on if you have them

Lastly, Banks are trying everything these days to try and get out of sending you Data, they have to by law so don't worry and you have to give them 40 days to send it back to you.Abbey Claim 1 - WON £2300 Inc Interest :rotfl:

This is the address you need to send the letter of to. make sure you keep a copy for yourself and send it recorded delivery, staple your post office reciept to your copy and keep it safe, write on your copy the date 40 days from when you have sent it so that you know when they have to respond by.

If customers follow the process of Letter sent recorded delivery to the bank with the correct fee then they shouldn't but they can be obstructive if you don't do this.0
