Barclaycard reneged on promise!

Here's me thinking I was a savvy consumer getting a good deal!
Last year, I paid off my Barclaycard in full at the end of the 0% period. I didn't want to transfer as I refuse to pay Balance Transfer Fees. I prefer to start afresh with a new card and then pay that off in full etc.
I contacted Barclaycard at the end of last year to say that I wanted to cancel the card. I was put through to the Customer Loyalty department and offered the opportunity to phone back in 6 months time when I will be given the opportunity to transfer the balance from a different credit card at 0% with no balance transfer fee.
Phoned today with all the details to hand (including the name of the original advisor I had spoken to) 10 minutes of hanging on the phone (0870 number I'm ashamed to admit) and Barclaycard refuse to honour this!! They offered me a 6% deal without fees. I managed to refrain from telling them where to shove it but am now very peeved.
I will be writing to Barclaycard customer services though to see if I get any joy from them. Anybody else had any success with complaining by letter?

True! I've written a letter of complaint anyway. I hope they offer me a 12 month 0% without balance transfer fee by way of apology!
