Curtain track questions

We've just bought some curtains that have pencil pleat headings. I like to have the curtain hooks in the middle pockets as I like to see a bit of the heading above the rail. They are quite heavy curtains and the normal Sologlyde track isn't recommended for their weight. The Swish Deluxe type of track which is recommended for heavier curtains doesn't allow any of the heading to be above the track even when the hooks are put through the lowest pocket.
Does anyone know of a track for a straight run (wall to wall, floor to ceiling curtains, that's why they're heavy) that allows the middle pocket of the heading tape to be used so that the heading can stand above the track?
Also, how many hooks is best to use on the tape to give a nice drape without the heading looking untidy when the curtains are open. One hook - two pockets - another hook? Or a hook in alternate pockets?

No-one got any ideas???????
Maybe I'd be better asking on the sewing thread then.0 -
Have you thought about popping along to say a professional curtain studio and asking their advice? Alternatively, your nearest John Lewis might also be a good place to ask.
I realise that you are a bit out in the sticks and have to trek to find the bigger places but since you are after specific effects and need specific answers, that may be your best option.
I do understand that you want to get it right - nothing jars in a newly decorated room like the wrong curtains, hanging not in the way you intended, does it?!0 -
Thanks Paddy's mum. Our nearest JL is in the West Midlands I think, about 3.5 hours away! I have asked, firstly in Dunelm where the curtains were made, and secondly in the local independent DIY/Home store.
Dunelm tried to tell us that the Sologlyde was OK, despite the packaging stating that it was for medium weight curtains and giving the maximum weight. I think it was just the assistant didn't know the products.
The local store tried to do the same but when we pointed out the weight restriction she said she could look through her catalogue but felt sure that all the tracks for heavyweight curtains were the same as the Swish Deluxe where the gliders hang from the bottom so you'd need to use the bottom pocket for the heading to just cover the track.
Never mind, I'm probably being too fussy. The Swish Deluxe and similar ones are nice and neat and will do the job very well so I think I will order some of that. Chances are I'll be the only one to look at the top of the curtains anyway :rotfl: .0
