How to...Floor Tiles meeting Wall tiles???

Hi, we're about to embark on the bathroom refurb and have bought tiles which will go on the floor, and up one and a half walls.

I don't really want to have skirting boards in the room, so can anyone suggest how to manage the join between the tiled floor and tiled wall - and also what to do to finish off the base of the non tiled walls.

Much appreciated.

Our tiled walls/floor have been finished with a nice neat thin bead of silicone. You can get clear silicone if you don't want white.

Sorry, can't help with the non-tiled walls meeting the tiled floor as we've always had a fully tiled bathroom.

In my loo I used half floor tiles to created a tiled skirting - with a bit of tile trim along the top. I really like the way it looks.

I agree this kind of finish does look good. My Dad tiled our utility room floor and we didn't want skirting board so incase of leaks from sink or washing machine he put half tiles in place of skirting. (actually they are less than half tiles, more like a third) We don't have tile trim though, just the good edge of the time showing.
It looks much better than it sounds :D

If you would like to see a pic just let me know.

    No problem at all...

My Dad tiled to the edge of the wall then put the 'skirting' tiles on top rather than the skirting tiles first then tile up to them.

our bathroom has tiled floors and walls and the join is just flexible grout.
if i had untiled walls i would just use a normal skirting board.
    Get some gorm.

We have the same set-up in our kitchen, I've also noticed they do the same kind of thing in places like pool/gym changing areas etc

I used the mosaic tiles that come on flexable mats when i did mine as I also had some pipe work that was boxed in to hide. I was then able to use the offcuts to provide a border at the ceiling.

nice job your dad did there....that looks good! :-)

i have to agree with TomsMom that a bead of silicone is the best way of finishing tiled wall to floor ......i'll be doing this between my wall tiles & laminate flooring when im finished my bathroom

i reckon there's not many options for finishing plain wall to tiled floors - skirting or similar small bead

Definitely the way to do this job. Thanks for posting the pic.
