Love it, package up a piece of plywood or some old tea trays.
Keep sending inquisitive and stupid emails asking for more info.Happy chappy0 -
A good opportunity for some Scambaiting. Post your tale on the 419 forum and really screw these scumbags.

LOL, love that Scambaiting site. String them along: tell them someone else will give you a cheque for 3,000 and will wax your car for you, ask them to better that offer!
But, yes, very likely a scam. It would only be more of a scam if they asked you to post it to Nigeria, as that happened to my OH on ebay.Today a young man on acid realised that all matter is mearly energy condensed to a slow vibration; we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively; life is only a dream and we are the imaginations of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather.0 -

Lol your being kind by saying its likely to be a scam
read the scambating site as already mentioned...some are really funny,
basically, they send the cheque, you cash it, then send the extra money to the person buying....then your bank gets told the cheque was stolen....they take the money back from your account which is the amount of the original cheque...your out of pocket...bank don't careWelcome, rogerramjet.

Is it worth taking the cheque to the bank and asking to see the manager and then explain what has happened and you think this is a scam, if they're a good manager they might want to look into it a bit further as people being scammed do not make happy bank customers.
They might be able to take it further in the right way with regard to catching the fraudsters. The cheque would probably be from a known British bank.0 -
hmm ... interesting point Maxamos .. I used to work for a bank, and have contacts in 4 of thr main banks, might be able to do some detective work.
However, to be honest, Im a bit scared of giving him my address, so I think I might have a look at scambaiter site :-)
Thanks again :-)
(I havent emailed him since I originally posted here, and he hasnt contacted me since, obviously not quite as desperate as he made out..)

Thanks everyone, it DID seem too good to be true.
I will email him and say unless he can send cash for the correct amount, he aint having it. Fair enough i think.
To report it to the police, do I print the info and go to my local police station, or website or watchdog?
Thanks LOADS ... biggest saving I think i'll ever make
Laurie
Depending on which police force area you are in you can e-mail the details to them.. Check to see on their website.
