I was unable to download the updates below

Security Update for Windows XP (KB951376)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB952954)
The 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 (SP2)
Update for Windows XP (KB968389)
Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.63.1394.0)

is there a workaround

    Was this through automatic updates or did you go to the Micorsoft update website?
    What happen when you tried to download them?

    Just use Windows Update to install the updates again.

    On my second machine, it took two attempts.
    Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.

    it was via both options; ie and automatic updates, could it be the firewall blocking them,

    ok im trying the 2nd via automatic updates and it seems to be working
