Hi all,
Only slighty linked to ebay, but thought the postage experts would certainly be on here!!
I've bought 2 items from ebay from overseas sellers, and today i had a slip through the door from the post office saying that I had to pay 12.50 additional to collect the parcel. My only quandry here is that 1 item was a fairly expensive aftershave (although got at a good price and worth paying the 12.50) and the other a sew own patch worth a couple of quid!
Am I in my rights to ask the post office to show me the parcel before i agree to pay? If i see the package, i should be able to tell which of the 2 it is!! If its the patch i'll cut my losses forthe sake of £3 and ask them to Return to sender!
Thanks!

Its probably the aftershave.0

yeah it will be the aftershave, most of the 12 quid is handling fees, (8 quid to royal mail and the rest will be made up of vat/import duty so say £3 tax/£1 import duty).
was the aftershave about 45 quid ?
also returning to sender when the import duty is paid is a nono, the royal mail has already paid this amount on your behalf and it would still be outstanding, im not saying i agree with that but that is how they work.0 -
im thinkin of buying something from america for £200 how much will the duty be on that?0

Work on +/- 20%.0 -
its cost me £160 including shipping so i would be lookin at about £30 which still makes it less than half price than in the UK so im sure the other half will still bemore than happy.0
