A couple of Q's...
Do you NEED diesel, that'll create lots of other comments, I know, but you'll pay a premium for it & it'll probably have had more miles done all ready!!
Break even cost wise is around 15,000miles/year, before industry figures say diesel is cheaper.
How big car do you need...
Astra/Focus size - Astra much better value, but less street cred.
Mondeo size - buy a 406 - dated design, but excellent diesels - 2.0ltr Hdi model
Omega/ Big Merc/BMW - buy a high spec Omega for 1/2 the £$£$ of the 'German' brands (it was built there too!!)
