How do you give a link from one word?

If you want to give a link in a post, instead of providing the actual link to the page how do you type a word, and when you click on that it works as the link? Thanks for your help, I've always wondered how you did it.

Another way is to type your word, then highlight it with the mouse, then click on the globe icon, then type or paste in the link.

If you are copying the full url (including the http:// bit) then highlight the http:// bit that comes up in the 'link' dialogue box and paste your url over the top of it. At the moment, you are pasting at the end of it and finishing up with two http:// s
