Washing Machine - Spin Problem

Hi all

Wonder if anyone can help with a Washing Machine problem - it spins beautifully anti-clockwise, but gives a horrble clunk when it tries to spin clockwise, does maybe one revolution, and then gives up, and goes back to its next anti-clockwise spin.

Doesn't seem to do it all the time. Can spin the drum round by hand and it spins nice and freely without a noise, suggesting the bearings are good. Have also looked inside and underneath and can't see any problems. Belt is in good condition.

Anyone know of any other potential causes that I might try to investigate?

Cheers
