Parking Ticket

My husband works for Royal Mail. He was visiting a delivery office this morning and they told him to park in the retail park car park next door, and put a card on his dashboard saying he was a RM visitor. It's an arrangement they have with the retail park car park owners.

Unfortunately, when he closed the car door, the card must have blown off the dashboard. He's been given a parking ticket from Town and City Parking Limited. It's a £30 fee if he pays now, rising to £60 within 10 days.

Is it possible to get out of paying this, as he was parked there legally and it was an accident that the card had blown onto the floor.
Here I go again on my own....

The question of legally or illegally doesn't arise, as there is no legislation covering private car parks.

This is a fake parking ticket, which has no basis in law. They could try to enforce it through a county court claim, but T&C have no track record of doing that.

Standard advice is don't pay them a penny, and ignore all their nonsense letters. If the vehicle is owned by Royal Mail, they will get the letters, so your OH will need to educate their fleet manager.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

Thanks. I'll tell him to ignore them.

It was his private car not a RM vehicle, so he's the registered keeper of the car.
