Blue screen of Death !

had the feared BSOD couple of times this week - vista started ok again after re boot - any one got any ideas why ?- plenty of space on HD - , corrupt reg file maybe ? - anyone know any good software out there ?

  • Corrupt Graphics drivers are a common cause of BSOD
    If you think it will take more than 3 hours to fix a software problem it is probably quicker to reinstall windows. 30 mins to install windows, 2½ hours to reinstall all your nice software

    What are the details contained within the text on the screen? Knowing what they are will give us a clear idea, rather than random suggestions that may well be incorrect..

    Running Windows is the problem:cool:

    That said BSOD on Vista is unusual - take a note of any text on the screen and try some searching.

    thanks all - hopefully wont happen again - but if it does ,will take down details - could be graphics driver as you suggest Andrew as have recently downloaded a nvidia driver - thanks again

    If you know for sure a new video driver was installed then it is virtually certain that was the cause. If this were my machine I'd do a ssystem restore to before that install was done.

    Check C:\Windows\Minidump

    If there are any files in there from the time of the bluescreens then feel free to PM me for my email address and I'll take a look at them for you.
