How much are the dual fuel savings?

When we moved into our house we inheritied the arrangements of the previous owners, i.e. npower for electricity and e.on for gas. We're paying about £100 a month combined.

Now as I understand it you can get a better deal if you have both with the same company, what sort of savings are we talking about?

Also purely because of the order we rang up for things the gas is in my girlfriends name and the electricity in mine, would that cause a problem in combining them?

    Hi Mark,

I would check the tariffs with your current supplies and ask them what additional discount you will receive if you combine on to dual fuel. Also ask if there may be a better tariff.

You could also have a look on the comparrison sites to check you have got a good deal.

The names on the accounts won't cause a problem, it's the supply numbers and address details that are used to switch suppliers, once you have your gas and electricity supply with your choice of company you can let them know what names you want on the account.

Hope this helps you a bit.

    Helena :)

That is not always the case.
You do often get a discount for dual fuel, but it may still be cheaper to purchase your supplies from two different suppliers. The amount of discount(if any) varies by supplier.

Use a couple of the comparison sites in the resource bar above to check whether dual fuel or two single fuel supplies would be cheapest.
energyhelpline.com is one site that this is extremely easy to do this with as it is simply a mateer of tabbing accross the options. :)
