    Thanks TigerFeet.

Sorry one more question.... I hear about people saying they have been discharged after a year, do you still use these accounts after being discharged or are you able to gain another account with more flexibility? (i'm just asking as I spend alot of time abroad with work and sometimes account cards are a problem).

How long would I have to stick to the coop or barclays card for?

to prepare for bankruptcy, I went with nationwide. They gave me a basic Cash Flex Account. That saw me through bankruptcy and sometime after being discharged (nearly a year). I attempted to upgrade my account with NW to get full debit card facility but they wouldn't budge cos of credit history.

It was then when I applied for Lloyds TSB. As long as I showed them my discharge papers, the offered me a basic current account with a Visa Delta (no credit facilities) rather than electron.

each institution has its own criteria obviously, but thats one that seems to be ok once you're discharged. I've no issues with them and having the debit facility back is fab!! :D

  • hearing that brighton close your co op account is not good as i just sorted mine prior to BR,i think i can use worthing courts if i like so may do that i dont want to go through another 5 weeks of setting up another account thats just silly.
Why dont brighton like the co op account and everywhere else just seem to freeze it for a day or so then let you use it? wierd.

I think the Barclays basic account also comes with a debit card that is not electron.
