Help with Freeview

Options
Hi all

Can you help? I have sold a set top box to someone (it worked fine when I had it) and he has tuned it in and the box is not receiving any ITV channels but all other channels.

He has another freeview box which functions fine so signal strength is not an issue; also, he checked the web site and ITV channels also appear as being available. He has completed auto updates aswell as restoring default settings with no success.

The freeview box is a Humax Fox 2 set top box.

Can anyone suggest anything? I don't want to have to get a refund!!!

Thanks

I'm at a loss to suggest anything other than a signal strength issue.
It would appear that he is not getting one of the multiplexes.
You could try posting here http://www.radioandtelly.co.uk/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.pl?board=humax
It the place where the Humax experts hang out.

    Hi
I have the same problem with my sons tv, and have tried 3 different types of freeview boxes. The reason (I believe) is that my son has a signal booster and its frequency clashes with some of the tv channels on the free view boxes, second he does NOT have a wideband aerial. So you need to check these two things at least. Freeview boxes in my opinion (and my trials) do not work though signal boosters and do like/need a wideband aerial.
    Good luck Brian

If he's not getting ITV channels that means he's not getting multiplex 2 so he won't be getting:

    ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, CITV, Channel 4, More4, E4, & Quiz Call (plus a few others)

I would say it's a signal strength issue rather than anything wrong with the box. Just because his other box can pick up the channels, doesn't mean this one will. It could be more sensitive to signal strength.

Has he done a "first time installation" as the missing mux could be on a different frequency to you, when you first set it up.
