Redudancy Pay for part time ?

My girlfriend has worked part time in a restaraunt for nearly 2 years. She was recently made reduduntant due to the restaraunt not doing so well in recent months and she was only part time probably one of the most hard working but because she was only part time they let her go.
On average she worked 3 days a week for the 2 years. Is she entitled to any redudancy pay or anything along those lines considering she wasn't offered anything.

If she is then how is best way of approaching the company to get what she is entitled too?
Any help is appreciated!!

Hi
If she's worked for less than 2 years she isn't entitled to any statutory redundancy pay I'm afraid. I guess the company don't offer occupational redundancy pay?
She would be entitled to notice pay though, legally this is 1 week for each year of service so if she wasn't given any notice they should pay that and any untaken holiday pay for the part year too.
I would talk to the owner direct about the notice pay before using other options.0 -
Hi there, I think that Teazel is right - but if your girlfriend wanted to check for herself (I assume she's not in a union?) - she could contact ACAS - https://www.acas.org.uk - they have some useful info on redundancy on their website, & there's also a helpline (which I've used in the past and found very helpful) - 08457 47 47 47.

For under two years' service, the statutory minimum notice period is one week. However, it is possible, though I assume unlikely in this case, for longer contractual notice to be due.0
