I would appreciate some info from you wise folk....

I bought a washing machine last October and it developed a problem quite quickly, when it came to the draining part of the cycle. My partner followed the guidelines in the manual and checked the pump for a foreign object which although nothing was found it seemed to solve the problem at that moment in time. Within a few weeks it developed the same problem again. I called the service co. under the manufacturers guarantee and they fitted a new pump. I was happy with this, service was good etc.

This solved the problem for a few months but recently the problem has started again. However, draining the pump manually isn't making a difference. I called the service co. yesterday and an engineer is coming out tomorrow.

Do you think i have a right to ask for a replacement machine as i am now worried that this may work for another couple of months and then re-occur which will at that point most likely be outside the one year guarantee? If the same problem has reoccured does that not indicate that the problem is something in the machine causing the pump to keep breaking rather than the pump itself?

If it makes a difference the machine cost £380, we chose this machine as we are a family of five and thought if we went for a cheaper £100 one it may not last due to the usage it would get, but it seems it makes no difference....

Thanks for taking the time to read this and any replies you give.

Sunny Angel.

  • Shameless bump to see if anyone has any helpful info?

    Thanks in advance.

  • I don't think you have the right to demand a replacement yet (the first engineer might not have fixed it properly the first time around) - although I would maybe talk to them about extending the warranty as it has a re-occuring problem. If it goes wrong for a third time, then I would be talking to them about a replacement.
