24/7 Heating

I have been told that if I was to keep my gas central heating on 24/7, which the radiators on number 1 setting...this would save the cost of heating charges.
Now, the question I asked myself, can this be true?
At present, I switch heating on manually for one hour in the morning on the highest setting.
I am sure I will be told by fellow members from forum that I was lead up the garden path!!!

I think this is probably an urban myth.
Our CH is actually on 24/7 but we have a programmable thermostat set to different temps for different time of day so that it only comes on at night if its really cold.0 -

This has been discussed in a number of threads.
It is not cheaper to leave heating on 24/7 - nothing more to be said.0 -
Many thanks for your help regarding 24/7.
Now I am aware thats its NOT a cost saving plan, I'll just carry on as normal.0 -
Leaving your heating on 24/7 is like leaving your car ticking over all the time so it never needs to warm up! it will cost you much more!0
