New Sofa Cancellation

I have provisionally ordered a new sofa and just need to confirm to them when the purchase of the property has completed and the order and finance will then be officially placed.
How do I stand should I wish to now cancel this order - the purchase of the property has now changed and I need to place a higher deposit. Also I am unable to get a definate completion date from the vendor.
Am I just able to cancel this over the phone or would the company require any official documents.

Hi
It is a DFS sofa - no deposit has been paid as the purchase is subject to the exchnage of contracts on the new property.
If I simply advise the sale has fallen through would they ask for proof of this or would they take my word ?0 -

So the contract you have signed with DFS for this sofa explicitly states the purchase is conditional on you exchanging contracts on a property purchase???"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
The order form actually states - 'subject to confirmation of chanir size'. I think this is how they get round the rules to ensure that they get the sale and their commssion. It seems alot of places do this now as I was also told by Harveys that they could do this.
You then call when you complete on the property and they officially place the order.0 -
Just tell them it dropped through - they won't ask for proof. In fact write and tell them then you won't have to answer any questions about it.0

I did call them yesterday to explain the sale had fallen through - they said the sales guy would call back. I have heard nothing back. I will just drop them a line to confirm my conversation with them.0
