Sell old fitted kitchen

Hi chaps, we're moving house and don't particularly like the existing fitted kitchen - I wondered if anyone had any experience of disposing of their 'used' cupboards, I guess the work tops would be useless to anyone else but the cupboards must be worth several hundred, even second hand ... seems a waste to just put them in a skip which is, I guess, what the new fitters will do !
Many thanks Roger

Have a look on eBay quite a lot of people sell on the old units. It depends how many what condition and how in demand for how much you get. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0

You could also look into your local Freecycle group. Basically you would post the details of whatever you are offering and others can come and collect what they need. NO MONEY changes hands, but it is a great way to reduce landfill and help some one out who cannot afford new units ( or who is a confirmed money saver! )0

Thanks both .... I'll check out both options. Best Roger0

Hi,
If the kitchen is in better condition than the average kitchen that is replaced then try:
https://www.theusedkitchencompany.com
They specialise in selling old kitchens and ex-display ones. They do take a commision but it gives you good national exposure for it.
One word of warning though - if your new kitchen fitters are expecting to remove your old kitchen then you must tell them with as much warning as possible that you are selling your old kitchen as it will need to be removed carefully which will obviously take much longer to do than a normal 'rip out' to go in the skip. You will also need to consider additional costs for this careful removal.
Anyway, good luck with selling / recycling it.0 -
very unlikely to get much for it anyways, unless it was very special.
so i would just freecycle it.Get some gorm.0 -
Thanks again chaps, having looked around I think you're right, there's little value, certainly not enough to even bother advertising it in some way, let's hope I can find someone interested on freecycle.

You might find people are keener to take just the doors off your hands than the whole works - that way they can give an existing kitchen a cheap facelift. I gave some modern plain cherry style doors away on freecycle when I was re-dooring my kitchen and had people snapping my hands off for them.
Although I do also fairly regularly see people on my local freecycle saying they are looking for kitchen cabinets - usually they want them for utility or garage storage and are not too worried about style so I'm sure you'll be able to save a decent quantity of it from landfill.0 -
That's encouraging thanks, I can imagine taking them apart very carefully only to end up dumping them ... I couldn't bear the thought of them going to landfill !0
