You are living and spending way beyond your means, is a lot of the money spent on going out with friends?
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
It all started when I had trouble with gambling and a few debts on credit cards then I got a 5 grand loan.
after this I got more debt on a credit card and had to get a larger loan. Few months down the road I got more debts on credit cards plus overdrafts.
I was getting charged alot of bank charges which led me to get a payday loan then it went to 2 and so on Hsbc has combined my loan and overdraft to a managed loan and that's it
Now I'm going on a debt management plan with Payplan at £444 a month for 2 1/2 years, but only if my creditors accepts payments and freeze interest and charges!
What are the chances of each creditor doing this0 -
Thanks for your honesty.
Fairly good chance they will accept with Payplan.
There are a few companies who might be @rsey for a while and keep phoning you, trying to pressure you into paying up but don't enter into discussions with them on the phone. Tell them that your with Payplan who will contact them and hang up.
If they are calling a lot this can count as harassment, log how often they call and contact Payplan to let them know.
Let Payplan deal with them.
Some people find the phonecalls increase in the first few weeks but it should settle down once the DMP is in place and working.

How is the gambling now? Have you received help and got it under control now?

I still gamble but I only do it in one place but I only do a few pounds a day (whic is well better). Just go in to socialize as I know the people there. And if I do more they won't let me go over £40 a day0
-
Can you stop going there?
£40 is still a substantial spend, you're just going to round in circles and never get out of this mess, isn't it better to avoid the temptation alltogether?

I use to go every day and am pulling it back all the time. I'm now only going twice a week max sometimes once so am learning. I still wanna go to keep in touch but I am not really gambling0

Welcome to the Debt free board, you have been very honest regarding yur gambling debts, there is a thread somewhere on this board where gamblers have posted their stories, I'll try and find it for you.
Remember though, there is only one winner at the end of the day, its the bookies, try to get some help for your gambling habit, are you gambling online as well? We are not here to judge you but to help.

Have a read of this, its a diary of sorts from fellow DFW who have gambled in the past and are facing up to their debts, it may offer you some support.0 -
Hi, just wanted to say gambling is a mug's game! How do i know i hear you ask? I've lost....well lets just say a lot ££££s and in terms of wins and losses i've lost way more than i have ever gained.
I know you get a little buzz when you're up and winning, but think of the time you lose (which i'm guessing is more often than the times u win!) ....
If you really want to get your finances in order you need to quit...period! No going to socialise or just spend a few quid....it will all add up!
I've learnt the hard way to stop gambling, find help if you think you've got an addiction, from website such as gamblers anonymous or gamcare.
One of the best things i've ever done was quitting gambling! (Second to Smoking! Yes i've done them all! )
Hope you get it sorted! Good luck! :rolleyes:0
