Removing temp files is always a good idea in case any trojans are residing in them

Do I treat the Malware like the anti-virus and do daily scans? And will the malware prevent the trojans latching on in the first place?

You really don't need to do an anti-virus scan daily. Any decent AV will pick up on viruses as they try to infect your PC (real-time scanning). If you don't already have Avira installed then use this.

Unless you're downloading dodgey files / torrents / P2P then you don't need to do a malware scan more than once every few months. Malwarebytes free won't stop trojans getting into your system, you'd need the paid version for this.
