DS was given one for his birthday on Monday. He was 5 and, having played a friends regularly, knew exactly what to do.

DD, who was 3 in July patiently waited her turn and, never having played on one, happily picked it up, got on with the Finding nemo game (from Leapster 1) then asked me to help her change it to the drawing.

the game that comes built into the system is moving around maps, line up the cursor with the number (when a letter is going past as well). DD figured it out pretty quick, so am looking to get some harder games to keep 5 yr old DS amused!

Don't forget you can access all the existing leapster games, but they just don't have the online capabilities that the leapster 2 games do. She can start on the easier ones of these and progress to the harder leapster 2 games the more she gets on with it.

thanks i'm going to see what games i can pick up on ebay x

sorry just to clarify...the normal leapster games work on the leapster2's? thanks x
  • does anyone know if there are any games suitable for a 3 year old for this? My daughter is 3 in a few weeks and was going to get her the pink one, but reading the spec on the argos site this black one is age 4+ thought they'd be 3+

We bought one for our 5 year old last Christmas, but it is her 2 year old sister who plays with it the most.

There is a simple drawing game on the Leapster (not sure about Leapster2) and she plays with this for hours.

    Yes.

They just don't have the online capabilities that Leapster 2 console enables Leapster 2 games to access.

Although he would probably use it and enjoy it for a while, I would just stick with the ds, my daughter is 7 and loves hers she has had it for ages now and still loves it, also get the Lego star wars, I think you can get this for the ds.

Took DSs £40 one back to ELC and swapped it for this today.

DS sooo happy! Can hear him in his bedroom now playing away light sabering the maths droids.

Plus a practical MSE lesson for him too-he knows £40 is more than £20 now and it's always good to see what you can get for your money. Here's hoping he follows in his mums dealing footsteps...bless him, tesco was one of the first words he said...

    Great Spot. Thank you

Anyone know where you can get the Digging for dinasaurs game in the UK? Also is it anygood?

Sorry I can't help you with finding it in UK...I had been looking for it a couple of weeks ago and ended up buying it brand new from ebay (US) and cost £18 delivered which I thought wasn't too bad, since new games are usually about £19.99

I think the main UK leapster website said the game was "coming soon" to the UK.

My four year old thinks it is fab and loves swishing the dino's tail to protect the dino eggs. :p
  • Thanks OP just managed to reserve the last one at my local store- lets just hope they can actually find it tomorrow!!

DS wanted one of these as was happily playing with his mates last week so he will be very happy indeed and I am a very happy mummy with it at this price!!! Thank you! :D
