Just out of curiosity which car is newer a 03 plate or 53 plate ?

    the 53 plate.

    (the 03 plate would have bee registered between 1st March and 31st August 03 and the 53 plate between 1st September 03 and 29th February 04).

    The 53 plate would be the newer registration, that doesn't always mean it is a newer car, many cars sit in fields for ages unregistered.

    So strictly speaking an 03 car could be " newer " than a 53 plate one.

    The age related plate refers to the date of first registration and not the actual age of the car.
