Anyone looking for a Good deal on blank media, I have always found both Bigpockets.co.uk and burn-media.co.uk are very good. They also do great deals on CD and DVD Writers. Just thought I would let you all know. ;D0

I am merely warning you that if you put faith in these disks to store valuable data, you might come a cropper when you come back to them later and the data has disappeared
Are there any CD-R's/DVD-R's on the market that guarantee data retrieval for 5 years or 10 years etc.?0 -
Cheaper discs available from https://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk also known as SVP communications https://www.svp.co.uk.

{DV 3173} CMC Tango (4x) DVD-R in Spindle Tubs of 50
£7.48 for 50 - thats £14.96 for 100 and delivery is normally £3.99 but they regularly do 99p shipping offers if you sign up to the newsletter.
Also worth checking out https://www.bigpockets.co.uk as they regularly to special offers also.
e.g.

I would also agree that these are probably not good discs to trust your data to.
I tend to use Ritek G04 based 4x discs as these have generally had good reports about them and they have been out for a couple of years.
8x discs have been a little unreliable so far in terms of longer term storage and I persoanlly have had problems with the G05 8x replacement.
My recommendation would be to get 2 or 3 different types of disc using different dyes and use all three for any important data.0 -
I'd recommend http://www.ukdvdr.co.uk
They have, for example, 100 Budget brand DVD-R at £12.99 inc VAT:
http://www.ukdvdr.co.uk/shop/customer/product.php?productid=17087&cat=260&page=1They call me Mr Pig!0 -
DVD media definitely varies in quality even the same brand over extended periods of time due to changes in the manufacturer which aren't always publicised.
I usually check new media at:
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php
The most reliable check is using the media code if you've got it. Checking the media code listed above by 'martint123' the rating for the -R disks is generally 'good'.
Having said that though I would also agree with 'tubbs79' that https://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk is an excellent place to buy media. Very good service and very keen prices.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
Tried a couple of the disks - ID is CMC MAG AF1 and the site
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
Puts them in the "Pathetic garbage media, landfill material, about 0-50% success rate:" category and I agree - both seemd to write OK, but failed to read even the first 'sector'.
I don't see the hi-space disks in this category0 -
For pretty much all my DVD / CD media I use :
http://www.svp.co.uk
Currently you can buy (4x) DVD-R in Spindle Tubs of 50 for £7.48 including VAT.
OK so that's £14.96 for 100.
Postage brings the order to £20.25 BUT you can avoid this.

I usually email my friends get a big order then split the delivery cost. If you have 4 friends and split it then it's only a £1 .06 each. :-*
If you sign up for their newsletter, you are mailed special offers. (no they are not annoying nagging, every other day emails either!)
Almost every other weekend they have a "99p delivery" deal ! Split that 5 ways !
I have been using them for a few years, never had a problem, they are very customer friendly and no I'm not on commission !
You might like to look at their storage and DVD players / Recorders (PC and "StandAlone") too.0 -
I also shop @ SVP for years. Allways found them to be good, prompt and very reasonable prices.
I also buy in bulk and split costs, when my friends decide to pay up sometimes takes weeks, dont you just hate asking folks
No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you0
