Recorded delivery item returned - What to do next?

Hi all

Just a quick bit of advice please.
I sold an item on ebay and posted out on 30th July. The item was returned today, marked not called for - obviously the buyer did not uplift from the Post Office or the postie did not leave a card.
I always mail the buyer supplying the tracking number as soon as I post out any items, so she did know it was on its way.
My question is, what should I do next, I have emailed the buyer to let her know it is returned, but do I ask for additional postage to send again or is it better to resell the item and refund the buyer? Obviously I don't want to be out of pocket so can anyone give me any advice?

Thanks in advance

Beth :)

If you refund the buyer, you will lose your ebay fees as well of the cost of postage you have incurred.
There is a way to obtain your fvf back, but that relies on the buyer co-operating to a mutual, and with their current history they may well 'forget' to do that too or may easily hit the wrong buttons.

The buyer needs to either pay for the re-posting or should agree to a refund less a re-stocking fee (i.e. the original sale price, less postage + packing, less fees incurred)

It's unlikely the buyer could successfully file an item not received claim as the online tracking shows delivery was attempted.

Thank you. I didn't realise that RM showed those details online. Think I will try the refund less re-stocking route as I have the feeling I will be playing posting table tennis otherwise.

at this time the tracking (should) will show the item is delivered but from the senders delivery office
    there is a full track
    attempted delivery
    held
    not called for
    returned to sender
    delivered

however this isnt available on the customer site
