How old is her son, btw? Any learning difficulties that might make you take a more sympathetic view? Or is he a biggish child that can't/won't take a telling, or is his mum the kind that thinks anything he wants to do is okay?
If she brings the subject up again tell her that you're intending to replace the fence one day but at the moment you don't have the money. So the old one will have to last a bit longer yet, or if it falls down you'll just have to string a temporary boundary wire. But if she is willing to contribute 50%...????
I'm pretty sure they are encouraging him to batter the fence, to hasten its demise:mad:
When the ball hits the fence, my DD has heard the dad call out "good shot"
Plus he doesn't seem to batter the fence the other side.
TBH I'm wondering should I be complaining about the damage hes doing to the fence?
But they may rip out the couple of little supports their side & further wreck it?
They are not going to offer £££ to go halfs.0 -
Went out last weekend with new power tools:D
They had already taken it upon themselves to trim the prickly overhang & threw it back over ourside of the garden.
Now I know they are in their rights to do this, but its certainly not neighbourly.
My neighbour the other side has over 100 foot of hedge thats hers, that we trim & clear away the side facing us. I wouldn't dream of asking her to do it, nor throwing it back over. When we trim it down we fill the trailer once & twice over, in fact its because of her hedging we had to buy a trailer & petrol hedge trimmer. But has to be done.
I'm certainly NOT changing the fence now:mad::mad::mad::mad:
They can go & scratch.
Is it worth making an issue of the damage/weakening of the fence from the ball battering?0 -
Yes - and plant as many more prickly shrubs as you can find. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

I wouldn't replace it, like you said, why should you when the kids are destroying it with their ball??
Ask her to go halves with you, because if it wasn't for the footballs, it wouldn't need changing, that should shut her up!
I wouldn't let my kids kick a ball on someone elses fence full stop. It's not the damage, it's the noise! That's what the park is forTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

They do not have the right to do this. They can cut any overhanging plants as far as the boundary and they can offer the trimmings to you but, if you refuse them, they must dispose of them.0
