Do I have to take on existing gas and electrici suppliers in new home I am moving to?
There are so many articles written about switching suppliers - in fact I switch when recommended - but how do I go about finding which is the best suppplier in the new house I am moving into on 21st August?
Do I just call the existing supplier and take over the supplies and if I do and it turns out to be expensive, am I tied to them? It is very easy when you already live there and can make comparisons by checking your previous bills, but what if like me you will be a new customer.
Please can anybody help ASAP as I need to make sure I get things in order and time is running out.
Thanks.

I would just take over existing suppliers and sort it out later once you have an idea of energy used in new house, all the comparison sites will vary as you really have no real idea of how many kilowatts of gas & electricity you will be using, only what an "average" house uses, and as you can read form many thread here, this varies enormously
TBH there will be so many other things to sort out when you move that I would put this job on the back burner [no pun intended] and sort it all out in say November before the real winter heating season starts
In meantine, note your meter readings weekly to arrive at reasonable estimate of actual use once
you are in
PS, you are not tied to them unless you sign some fixed term, fixed price deal, something to watch out forGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0 -
Yes when you first move in as it is not legal to transfer to another supplier until the property is in your nameI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0
