Virgin trains Loaded against Northerners

To revert to the OP's question - Virgin are probably discriminating against First Transpennine Express who operate all trains from Manchester to Scotland and a good proportion of those from Preston and Lancaster. They've no particular reason to publicise this too easily so don't offer it as a popular journey.
And I'd take those numbers with a huge pinch of salt. For example, if I travel from Leamington to Birmingham I can land up - on the same ticket - at New Street, Moor Street or Snow Hill. How does the system know where to count it? It doesn't. It guesses.0 -

There used to be - presumably still is - a model to assign journeys based on journey times and frequencies. (This is mainly for revenue allocation purposes.) But a more salient question is the counting of Centro travelcards - maybe these aren't reflected in the data being quoted. In which case it's surprising the gap between New Street and Waverley is as narrow as it is. (This would also affect Leeds.)However hard up you are, never accept loans from your friends. Just gifts0
