Trying to cancel LA fitness Contracts

I wonder if anybody can help me.
I have just phoned La fitness to try and cancel my membership after leaving my job, I know under the terms of my contract that i have no right to cancel since i quit voluntarily but the staff could not have been more unhelpfull!
Since making the call i have been looking at my contracts (Mine and my wifes) and notice two things about it which may help in cancelation.
Firstly the terms and total amount payable differ (It says 12 months but gives price for 2 years).
Secondly both contracts lack a signature from an LA fitness member of staff.
Now i thought Consumer Credit Act 1974 stated both parties had to sign the agreement for it to be binding?
Anyone shed any light on this and think i should send up a letter cancelling under these conditions?
Any constructive comments welcome, Im well aware of what contract I signed and dont need anyone to remind me of that.
thanks
Matt

If you hadn't signed I'd say it's a given that there's no contract to oblige you to continue (their printer wasn't working when I signed up this week but they gave me a membership card and said I could sign next time - as if I'll be going back and reminding them of that!!). Searching on the issue myself for when the time comes and I want to argue it, there are a LOT of cases out there about LA Fitness. None I can find fit your bill exactly (nor mine) but this guardian's article may give you a rough idea (unfair contract terms?? local fair trading group?? Good luck!0

Thank you for your input, I searched the internet and found some text to backup my thoughts on the consumer credit act 1974 on the Which? website and it confirmed my thoughts that both the gym and myself have to sign (my copy only has a signature from myself).
Dont get me wrong I am purely looking for a getout clause due to my current employment situation and nothing else, just a shame they couldnt try to help their customers instead of leaving me to clutch at straws for ways out.0 -
