I heard that it is the owners themselves that are in financial difficulty [with the taxman] but the hotel's business itself is fine.

i have stayed in burrendale, radisson and slieve donard. slieve donard for me is far better, the spa is outstanding and even if you don't book in for a session the swimming pool etc is fab, great views over mournes, loads to see in the area

breakfast was amazing, huge buffet - traditional fry, porridge, fresh fruit, continental etc etc, great spread, we normally lounged for an hour grazing over the feast

we did not eat in the restaurant at the hotel but did have dinner 2 nights in the place at the end of the driveway, the percy french, lovely food and great service

we had lunch one day in place near the spa, have forgotten the name, v plush setting but v pricey - my recollection it was £8ish for a club sandwich

My OH and I stayed in the Lough Erne Golf Resort in February and it was fabulous, a real treat. Great food, lovely location, spa with swimming pool. It is a bit pricey but it is possible to get deals online. We don't play golf but thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Just want to be guaranteed that the standard is good, fitness suite / spa would be nice but not essential, good food is very important. Planning to in september mid-week.

    So where would you advise?
  • The Manor House Hotel is beautiful! The also have cottages to rent in the grounds. Does anyone have a link for renting these? Im not sure if they are linked to the Manor House Hotel or not?

We have stayed in the Killyhevlin a few times and it has always been lovely. You can also use your hi-life diner card in there and at the minute I think there are deals on for 2 nites and one evening meal. Well worth it IMO as the food is lovely!

We drove down to Lough Erne Resort and I must say it looks really impressive! Geared for the golfer tho! so I dont think I would get away staying there and hubby not playing golf!:rotfl:
    oooooooh i luv a bargain :)

I wouldn't recommend the cottages they are very rundown. the floor was damp in our room and funny enough smelled of damp!

lough erne is beautiful but food and drink is very expensive.

Elliemoo, the girlfriend and I are due to stay at Lough Erne in November. She is wanting to do for a treat for her birthday. Is pretty pricey, but will be good to experience. I wouldn't be the most adventourus when it comes to food. That was the thing I was subdued about the most...
