Im looking to book a nice hotel break in NI for a couple of nights mid week - 2 nights accom and 1 meal, the hotels ive short listed are Galgorm Manor; Burrendale or Slieve Donard. They seem similary priced.
Can anyone tell me how they compare.

A couple of friends tried the Slieve Donard recently and were unimpressed with the restaurant which surprised me.
What about further north? We stayed in the Bayview in Portglenone recently and had a great time, good food, great room, only downside was a fairly uncomfortable bed.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0 -
Slieve Donard would be my choice of those. You can't beat the location at the Mournes. It's a real old style classy hotel I think. Charles Chaplin stayed there once and you can see his signature in their little museum.0

Been to both Galgorm & Slieve and would prefer to return to the Galgorm!0

What about the Killyhevlin in Enniskillen?0

I can recommend the Bushmills Inn in Bushmills for old charm, individuality, creaky floors, higgledy piggledy layout, fabulous food and whisky and it might be a bit cheaper than the others you mention. If you can get an upgrade to a suite, that's quite a treat too! The coast up there is out of this world too...Feel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T0

Try tripadvisor for reviews. Slieve donard is located more centrally than the burrendale for newcastle town. Have only had wedding food there but it was lovely.
Galgorm always gets good reviews and is probably a better base for going to the north coast etc but isn't as close to things in the evening if you are wanting to go out and about.MFW 148 - Mortgage £121,000 1Jan11 / Mortgage £120,300 28Jan11 / £119,808 24Feb11 / £119,400 22 April11 / £119,089 29 May11 / £118,500 October110 -
We are off to the Slieve Donard next month for a weekend and tbh we have heard mixed reviews.
We love the Killyhevlin in Enniskillen, very good deals there for 2 nights B&B+ 1 dinner. Also we booked the Radisson Roe in Limavady in October, really good deals there again. - a lot cheaper than the Slieve Donard!
I know people who have stayed in the galgorm and they loved it.Norn Iron club member - 2650 -
Yeah my mum was telling me about the brillant deals at the radisson but they live so close to it that it really is pointless. My line manager and another colleague have stayed here and couldn't fault it.MFW 148 - Mortgage £121,000 1Jan11 / Mortgage £120,300 28Jan11 / £119,808 24Feb11 / £119,400 22 April11 / £119,089 29 May11 / £118,500 October110

I recommend checking what Guest Houses Gary Lineker and Danielle Bux stayed in on their trip to N.I. Info should be accessible from the bbc site, I would imagine. The places looked tip top. They were in counties Antrim, Londonderry and Down when I watched it. One or two of the places they stayed in looked real nice, and the prices were excellent, too.
Galgorm is a good spot, and as has been stated, would provide a good enough base for travelling to the north coast.
Bushmills Inn is pricey for drinks and food, but is a nice, traditional, welcoming place, and is literally about two miles from the Giant's Causeway.
My sister stayed in the Burrendale recently in Newcastle and said it was good.
Have never stayed in Roe Park, though ate there on Monday past and it was pretty good. Radiasson hotels are always pretty decent, as well.0 -
There are strong rumours that Galgorm Manor is in difficulty and may not survive in present ownership0
