Is it the special paint for kitchen or just the regular matt paint?

Try using kitchen paint, normal paint does not cope as well with condensation hence flaking.

Even normal silk paint is better than the Matt - that's horrendous in a kitchen or bathroom. Best with proper bathroom paint, or if the range of colours is too limited I've used the scrubbable ones and they've been fine.
