Hi, I have a dell LCD 17" monitor and am finding that it strains my eyes. Is there a way to use some sort of program that helps you to set optimal settings eg. contrast, or does anyone know what these are??
thanks

Is it a tft flat screen, if so, you need to set the resolution to the optimal size for that monitor (it should have had a protective film on it when it was purchased, with the best resolution to use).
If the icons are too small, you should be able to make them bigger in display settings (dpi/fonts).
Also, this might help..

it's microsoft's cleartype tuner.. it only works on tft flat screens or laptops, not a normal CRT monitor..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Theres a free tool called Multi-res that I use in conjunction with some special OMEGA drivers for my ATI card. This enables me to get the optimal resolution setup. The OMEGA drivers are tweaked drivers that replace the ATI catalyst ones. The main reason I used them is because they offered me more widescreen resolutions that I was unable to have under the standard setup.
If you are not confident with installing new drivers etc then I would stay away from this unless you have a knowledgable friend.
Otherwise you could try and change the dpi settings in the Display properties(right click on blank area of screen) -> Settings ->Advanced .... change it to 120 ... 200 seems to mess up some spplications. Also change the white background to an off white this will reduce the strain a bit more too.
