Painting garage door - advice needed please

The paint on our galvanised metal garage door is flaking badly and needs repainting. I really would like to strip the door back to metal before painting again as it looks really tatty where the previous owners have just repainted over the flaked off bits.

Is there a quick way to strip the door - could I use one of the chemical strippers I've seen advertised?

Any advice appreciated as I'm not looking forward to this job!

You could use paint strippers like nitromors but is nasty stuff to use.

Far better fill any bare metal bits with metal oxide primer (wilkinsons have it) with a small brush, let it dry and then repaint you can get Hammerite garage door paint no idea if its good I just painted mine with Wilkinsons gloss paint

i would not bother stripping a garage door with a chemical stripper. too much work and too expensive.
just use hammerite primer (if req on the bare patches) and hammerite top coat. sanding down where required.

if door has been undercoat and glossed it should be fairly easy to scrape off as they do not stick to glavanised metal unless they have had a primer for galv metal
i personally wouldnt use hammerite , if you can get it try bedec msp ( multi surface paint ) - goolge it for your nearest suppliers , dulux decorator centres stock it , its water based , easy to apply and dries quickly and doesnt need any primers
