Lloyds Bank

My wife and I have found that lloyds Bank will not consider any financial hardship difficulties even after the Financial Ombudsman took up our case. We have been judged to be a hardship case and lloyds were sent a letter confirming this, the Ombudsman just took Lloyds side.

lloyds told them that we were staying within the agreed overdraft, and yet we have no choice, they charge us if we don't. The only way we stay within the agreed limits is by robbing Peter to pay Paul. We are really struggling and yet the Ombudsman took no notice of this point, why !!.

Do you have priority debt arrears(mortgage/rent, council tax, utilities)?
Are any of the arrears being paid off?

  • We have an arrangement with Halifax re our mortgage, we are paying them off an arrear and in to be fair to them they have been very good. We still have arrears re council tax and utilities which we are paying off. The problem is that we are then left with very little for food etc.

Put in a claim but they may argue that as there is no priority debt arrears that you are not in hardship.

  • For as long as Lloyds are getting their money they won't give a damn what anyone says or does. Starve for all they care.
Only way of getting hardship out of them is to stop paying them which will most likely cost you a default notice.
My situation was bad enough not to care, I parachuted to another bank and cut Lloyds off entirely.
With their attitude to hardship they're lucky they're getting the £10 a month that I'm giving them. (back)
Don't go this way unless you're already screwed though eh ?
Currently keeping my head above water and learning to swim.
In debts of 13.5 months total net income
Only pay what YOU can pay, THEY won't starve !

Debts can, and i'm sure they do KILL

    Good luck with this.

I am not sure where we would stand either in regards of hardship, but here are our reasons:

Mortgage arrears...hefty at this point, still awaiting for this to be sorted out for SMI, even when sorted there will still be a huge amount of arrears.

Hubby made unemployed due to job losses despite the hundreds of applications made to try to find new employment, now searching further afield.

I am a full time carer for my autistic son.
We are under the CCCS a debt organisation.

Have 2 defaults on the 2 loans
Then received a solicitors letter ......then 2.

We also have some health issues as well, hubby due to job loss is treated for depression and myself high bp, and with my son to care for who has special needs, this adds to the distress.

So wonder where we would stand in hardship as well in regards of reclaiming charges etc?

Hope things pick up real soon for us and everybody in the same situation.

    Sorry for hyjacking your thread......:o
