Common Questions
Q.A customer doesnt produce a receipt,do i have to do anything even if the goods are faulty?
A.There is no legal requirement to provide or produce a receipt;a customer needs to be able to provide proof of purchase but this can be a credit card voucher or cheque stub or anything that indicates when and where the item was bought.

If you are going to try to interpret the law, check your facts before you give out misleading information-you need proof of purchase.0 -
You need to remember that the dvd itself may not be faulty-your equipment may be. Indeed, if you bought a game for your pc which wouldn't wrork because your pc was under-specced, they would have no obligation to exchange or refund at all.
so they may well be within their rights to refuse-they could even check it on one of their instore dvd players-if it works, you wouldn't have a leg to stand on...The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.

They wouldnt get a refund of money as such - they would get a refund onto a gift card! This happened with a duplicated CD i took back a couple of months ago and even though I had the receipt to show I had paid by card I had to have a refund onto a gift card!Weight Loss - 102lb0

My facts are quite correct thank you. Please take the time to look back through my posts and you will see that they are backed up from the DTI site. As I said the OP does not need a receipt and proof of purchase can take many forms - including the word of someone who was with the OP at the time of purchase - that is fact and is well documented on other sites if you would care to look.0
