Software for kids

Hi,
My kids are getting a PC for Christmas (recycling my old 1.8Gb P4 with a few upgrades- RAM etc), and I have a list of games they want as well.
However, my eldest loves learning, she's always writing or asking me and her mum to write down maths problems for her, she just loves school and bettering herself. (She's only 8)
I thought it might be an idea to try and get her some software that will allow her to do maths, english, science etc to go on the PC.
Can anyone recommend a set of software that I can buy for her?

[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

we had 'I love science' for our two a few years ago(we did homeschooling),they loved it,very funny banter from the characters and quite an easy to use interface for under 12's.I think it was Dorling Kindersley. Also had 'simple sums' I think it was called which was very very easy to understand and you didnt install it, it ran from the disc,it gave fun cartoons for the rewards.
We did use ADI maths and English too when they were a bit older and I think there was a younger version called Adiboo, that has a good reward scheme with games(well the older version anyway).
I expect there are a few others about now but those were well used in our house.0 -
