New Car - Options??
Hi,
To cut a long story short I think I have been totally done over whn buying a car in June. Got myself a Mondeo for just over £900 and it has caused nothing but grief since I got it. The latest is that it is smoking quite badly on acceleration and I believe it may be burning oil. I had an emissions test done on it and its currently failing the MOT.
I'm therefore on the verge of giving up on completley on it and just running it until the MOT expires in Feb. I'm now looking at options for a different car as I have a few months to play with.
I dont have a lot of cash right now as I only moved house in June, the £900 I spent on the Mondeo was meant to get me a car to last a few years so I'm feeling pretty hacked off at myself for buying it!
I can maybe save up £1000 by February but obviously I run the risk of another car like the Mondeo! Are there any other options I should think of? I need a car daily for my commute as public transport is not an option with my school run commitments. That rules out a car club too IMO as there is not any suitable drop offs and pickups near home and work. I dont want to take a loan out on a car but had thought about the possibility of leasing a car.
Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?
Thanks in advance.

Few options - worth thinking about but it depends on your current situation.
From now till Feb: Save up as much money as possible.
Apply for a larger overdraft in your bank with a low interest. (If your a student, or a family member / friend are students - they can get INTEREST FREE overdrafts upto £3000)
If you passed a course within the last 5 years - Get a interest free overdraft account for a graduate account.
Don't apply for too many accounts in a short space of time. Spread them out.
Set your self a limit of how much you want to spend - don't go over it!
...............
Failing that - get down to the bookies with your cash and take a gamble... (only joking!)0
