No fixed time across the country; also depends on the control system you have. Midnight to 7am is about average, but can vary quite a bit especially if you have a mechanical clock system that is inaccurate.(i.e. running slow)
  • Ok, NPower recently fitted Horstmann two rate meter to replace old mechanical time clock and meter, but I don't see any time indicated for rate change. Pressing buttons just goes through the consumptions and unit's time of day. Assuming Midnight to 7am is risky as I don't know whether unit runs to GMT or BST. Do they publish this info?
  • Mine system is on a telemeter (Radioswitch) and turns on at 1am and off at 8am regardless of the time of the year. Prior to that I had a timer that kept going wonky and I usually got my cheap rate during the day. If you are up you can hear them click as they change over.

Think your timing is set by region of country, not by supplier. I'm central Scotland. My time clock is a sealed unit with off-peak coming on at 11 pm and off at 7.30 am winter and on at midnight and off at 8.30 am summer. (Incidentally you will probably hear a 'click' from meter when it changes.) I've changed supplier a few times over the years, but the off-peak timing never changes.
