Change Now ???

I see Martin is saying change gas and electric suppliers now. I am with EON on Price Protection 17 capped price untill October 2009,i changed on to this some time back, and am not really sure if i should change again. The pricing structures of many of the suppliers are not easy to understand at all,i keep getting calls from British Gas about changing, with promises of cuts in bills, but surley i am on the best now. Its just so confusing, and who do you trust. Changing over was a nightmare to EON,from EDF, seems my electric meter is a dual reading or something, and the serial numbers give problems. So i am a bit reluctant to swap suppliers if its not worth it. is it better to stay were i am untill October 09, or should switch tarriff with Eon

Does anybody else remember what happened when Martin pranced around our TV screens, ranting "CHANGE NOW! CHANGE NOW!"?

That's right, the sheep followed Martin's advice, and ended up paying a much higher price for their gas and electricity.

    Hi denwyn :hello:

I know it's hard to decide to change or not, the tariff that you are on does end in October 2009 as you know, therefore, you will be changed on to the standard tariff, at the moment there are no directly comparable tariffs available where prices are protected.

I wouldn't change to any company on the promise of a price cut in the future, it would be best to compare current prices and tariffs that you can have straight away.

You may want to wait until your capped deal in near to the end, then pop your details in to a comparison site to see what would be best.

You can also use our website to look at alternative E.ON tariffs or just give us a call and ask.

When comparing tariffs, try to use your usage and not a monthly spend amount, this will give you a much more accurate quote.
If you need any more help, just give me a shout

It's always good to keep an eye on prices using the comparison sites such as those in the resource bar above.

If by switching, they suggest you will save money, be aware of any early termination fee that may apply to your current tariff.

Beware of switching to any fixed/capped tariff; they may charge a premium today and/or incur early termination fees ... but do offer some protection if you believe prices will rise in the meantime (your guess is as good as mine on that!).

I'm sorry to hear you experienced difficulties in switching supplier, it should normally be quite trouble free (unless you are in debt or the switch involves an IGT).
Staying with the same supplier really should be trouble free in all circumstances, and any switch should be a simple case of changing tariffs that should be able to be actioned almost immediately (rather then the 4-6 weeks a typical switch will take). Unfortunately you probably won't get any backhanders if you don't switch supplier though.

There were no bad debts,we moved into the house and EDF were the suppliers, but we had lots of problems with them and swapped to EON,the gas change was no problem, about 4 weeks in total, electric was a nightmare, more like 3 months, and lots of phone calls, the meter looks like any ordinary meter, but has two reading sets of numbers ,with one having an official label over it informing the reader to use the other numbers to read the meter as a single meter.. It has two seperate rerial numbers for each st of numbers, and this is were the problems started, we were informed it was some sort of dual meter. No one seemed to be able to sort it out at EDF. Eon were very patient, and in the end they sorted it all out,but unfortunatley we still have the same meter, and i really am not sure if i would want to go through this all again, and would really only consider it if the savings were worth it. I have change within EON before,to my present capped rate,it has saved a fair ammount. I think i will proberbly now leave it untill just befor my present capped rate ends in October, and proberbly to avoid problems i may still use EON. With regards to the backhanders from the likes of Uswitch ect...not interested at all,did go this way many years back...never received a thing.
