Google is changing the code for their search technology, claiming it will make search faster and more accurate.
I tested it on Firefox and Chrome (sorry don't use IE much) but can only see some improvement when using the new Google Chrome Beta.

Google tells you at the top how long the search took; comparing the two would seem pretty trivial.0

The figures shown for server time were faster on the new search for almost every check I made using Firefox. I don't have Chrome installed on this machine but fail to see how the browser can influence the server anyway.
Subjectively there was no difference.0 -
The difference is negligible; unless of course you have The Need for Speed
