Move back to the land

Does any one have advice on where to look for land ? (web site links maybe ?). We currently live in a nice little three bedroom semi with a small garden but would like to move out into the country a little more, with room for some animals etc. I can find plots for sale but they are just as crowded in as our current situ. I can also find grazing land etc but ofcourse then we have to worry about planning consent.
Any ideas & other advice gratefully received.
